We will be asking you to reflect on each day in the blog so that you can get comfortable with blogs and how they are used. Wow!!! So much new material... So much to learn..... Share your thoughts on what worked well for you and suggestions for the rest of the week.
So much to learn - I like the way we are learning how to "use" blogs, etc. I guess I'm looking forward to learning how to "create" these pages.
ReplyDeleteI like this blog site. But what is the difference between a follower and a contributor?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your input and feedback. The breakthrough point for me is when some of this starts to be fun. Just accessing all the goodies that you have provided makes this seem much more fun to do. I am anxious to check out sources from Delicious later on. I feel inspired and motivated to track down some topics that my students will enjoy as part of the learning process.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a productive day with some excellent time investments!
Today reminded me just how much I forgot from last year's class! Yikes!
ReplyDeleteA follower can only comment and read the blog psots while a contributor can actually create a post for others to comment on.
ReplyDeleteI'm just having issues getting to be a contributor...
I am in and posting a comment!
ReplyDeleteMy short term goal is to figure out how to add a picture.
I appreciated the time to "play" with the sites--I learn much more when I get to play with it myself for awhile
ReplyDeleteI am in a true fog. It is strange to occupy a virtual world! and to communicate this way.
ReplyDeleteLots of good stuff. Using the various platforms seems like it might be unnecessary i.e. using Moodle as the class site but using a separate wiki and blog site. This is the second time I have been turned on to Delicious and I learned a couple of things to make it a more "natural" part of my beautiful browsing life! Cheers
ReplyDeleteI agree with Suzanne... "So much to learn-"
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to feel like I will never be a transformer. I'll settle for adaptive at this point :)
I love the swirls on this background!

ReplyDeleteI like having the chance to practice with this. I am also a follower of another site: I'd forgotten....
ReplyDeleteWell I started this class with one password for one program and now I have 12 passwords. Shows how much was covered and learned today
ReplyDeleteMy husband started a blog about his six weeks of paternity leave over a year ago. I've kept up on it because family members and friends seem to appreciate being able to see photos and read stories. The reason I like it is that it's not so "in your face" like Facebook. If you are inspired to comment, you can, but you can also just read and appreciate. I will say that I'm getting random comments in foreign languages which sort of creeps me out........
ReplyDeleteI had a few opportunities to review some things I haven't used in awhile. It was nice not feeling completely lost on the first day. I appreciated having the opportunity to put faces with all of people who wrote on the forums. It was really helpful to read the assignments before class began.
ReplyDeleteDid you say pictures could be posted on the blog? If I used one for family communications can the access be limited to my students and their families at home? Can it be linked to my Edline page?
I'm fried...so much to learn. I'm really glad that I'm here - and looking forward to putting together a do-able game plan for the upcoming year. I'm going home to play with some of this stuff - chew on it a bit....have a good night, everyone!
ReplyDelete:)
If any of you are on Facebook, be sure to "friend" me! Robert Waldo Brunelle JR.
ReplyDeleteI appreciated the opportunity to engage in discussions about the issues of technology with other teachers who are in the trenches.
ReplyDeleteI also appreciate being introduced to new tech and then having the opportunity to make it worthwhile. I've been introduced to Delicious before, but never felt compelled enough to actually create an account... Thank you! :)
Great tips, good discussions, and always someone to help! There is soooo much to learn and the tough part, remember!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that I am taking this class again.
ReplyDeleteI need to keep working with the tools. I love hearing everyone's comments and ideas. I'm looking forward to our work this week and next.
I think once all of today's information settles into my brain it will be helpful. Being able to explore wiki, goggle apps/docs, blogs and delicious with teachers at the ready was very helpful. I want to get back into this stuff tonight to figure out if I can navigate and use all of these tech options.
ReplyDeleteJoanne and Lisa, you guys are so helpful...wow so much to learn. Great to be finding and using so many web 2.0 programs.
ReplyDeleteThis has been a great first day. I am a bit overwhelmed. I am trying to think about where to begin.
ReplyDeleteI think Delicious will be very helpful.
I have used Wikis created by others. I think I should think about using one myself.
I have never used a blog or thought about how to use it! More thinking tonight about that.
I have enjoyed learning the new tools and hearing about where other people are in relation to technology and what they do. I feel better about where I am as a result. I think we are not going to be able to get around the accessibility issue in integration and I'm glad that we are touching on that idea, and the need to have a plan B, C, or D....
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling sort of mixed about the class. It's hard to go from being in summer mode to having to re-engage, but the transition is happening and I'm trying not to be so overwhelmed.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed the mix of discussion, with angst, and tech tips. Sometimes these classes are so pedagogy heavy, with way too much theory and expectations. So far, the mood seems right for everyone to make strides towards better tech integration, no matter where they end up on the continuum.
ReplyDeleteMoodle is very interesting to me and I am looking forward to reading more of the manual - yes, I want to read the manual. At this point, where I see myself is as a teacher seeking to start transforming myself as much as the students. I desperately need something to manage all the tech I am doing and to get my students writing, thinking, peer-to-peer collaborating more. Moodle seems to fit the bill. Yet, like everyone else, I am feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of making major changes.
I miss my gaming days, when crashing and burning was a learning experience - I've gotten way too serious!
I learned that I can use new tools without fully understanding what I am doing. I guess this is how "natives" operate. It's progress!
ReplyDeleteI am supposed to be at a dinner at my daughter's house but wanted to try a few things first. I can't get to the CESU web site so I am a bit frustrated.
ReplyDeleteI am certainly glad that I have my excel spread sheet to remember my passwords!
I am in the same boat as Vicki--logged on to use some of the tools from the day and review the forums on Moodle but can't get to anything--perhaps the server is down? Anyway...great to put faces with names today, I am really more of an in-person learner I think. I'm curious to try Skype and see if that satisfies my need to "see" the person I am talking with. Typing/reading on the computer just doesn't allow for the reading of body language, intonation, expression....all things I enjoy about discussions in a classroom setting. It might be a bit easier now that I have some experience with each person, but overall, I prefer the in person days to the on line forums.
ReplyDeleteMoodle server is down ... along with some other servers at MMU. Jean will be there early today to try to fix it for us. Yep - I'm wondering what plan B is ...
ReplyDeleteI am interested to get to work with some of the websites I've seen. Besides creating a web page, I want to learn how to display student work on my web page whether it be audio or visual.
ReplyDeleteDigital story telling is a tool I want to learn how to use with my students. Maybe those stories can be shared.
Day two and I am a bit overloaded.
ReplyDeleteI am interested in finding a way to organize photos.
I have thousands because I do a school wide slide show each year. I played with Smilebox a bit and have a "beautiful" album of flowers from my garden.
I think I am on the right track with my plan. New the best way to organize and comment on material.
It was great to have a 2 day break from class over the weekend. This Wed. - Tuesday format for class was a very good idea. What a great list of linked technology workshop materials and instruction sheet resources for your district.
