Final Day of Class
I think that the most important thing that I learned this week was that adding a piece of technology to a lesson isn't creating a 21st century learning experience! I will need to add some web 2.0 tools to my lessons to accomplish this. (The challenge will be how to do this with 200+ students. I will be exploring blogs and wikis more fully in the next few weeks!) Also, through the reading and development of my project, I realized that I need to connect more of what I teach to the real world the children live in and give them more control of their learning.

Thanks - most earnestly - to all of you. Seriously, I feel that this course has upgraded my technology skills and awareness about 500%! (I know - I was a little behind in that regard.) It's like - keep moving or get run over, in a way.
ReplyDeleteIt is taking me less time to do stuff every day. In my project for example, I tried so many times to "import" stuff and was unsuccessful. The good things are that people were really patient with me (thanks again) and that I found some different things I might not have on my own. I need a lot of work on the transition points still - moving from one website to another or one program to another. It all looks great but does not do what I want it to without help or gigantic chunks of time.
Also, I will try harder to attend the school year workshops if we have them again. It's just really a challenge to make a window of time at the end of a long day which still holds piles of papers at the end of it. I am hoping that moodle will save me some of that day by day grading of assignments. Students will check in on that and maybe free up some of my time to do a workshop on technology updates.
Thanks again, everyone! Have a good rest of the summer.
You were at it early this morning, Margaret! We were all at different levels of proficiency for sure, but the important thing is that you are moving forward! See you on the CESU Moodle!
